Little Town Blues

My town
small town
never gonna make it town

Lost my way
no Broadway
what’s the point anyway

Chasing lights
caught a stork
never gonna see New York

Bills and babies
mortgage due
no way to leave, just won’t do

Kiss the kids
turn out the light
lose myself in dreams tonight

Gotta light?

Paint me white
cover up the dark
except the eyes
the eyes that see
me
in you
striking the match
that burns us both

Spring

The signs are here for all to see
Long winter cold is nearly past.
Red robins chirp in fits of glee.
The signs are here for all to see.
Green swelling buds soon leaf the trees.
Pink tulips will appear at last.
The signs are here for all to see.
Long winter cold is nearly past.

Encore!

To be
what is expected.
Delivering lines
you’ve written for me.
Directed how and when
to move, to sit, to stand.
Seven days a week.
One final act
upon a broken stage.
An encore is
not to be.

Spring and other lovers

Warm against my face
a kiss of sun
and I remember
Spring
and other lovers
